Welcome to the school section of the IHA-UDP* website. In this section you will find information on what IHA-UDP does, facts about Ethiopia, how to get involved and resources for you to use both in and outside of school. These features and articles have been prepared by teachers, students and friends of IHA-UDP.
IHA-UDP has been running for over 20 years in the slums of Addis Ababa the capital of Ethiopia working with the “poorest of the poor”. Jember Teferra set up the charity and targeted the poorest areas of an already impoverished city with a desire to transform the lives of others. They are involved in community work, rebuilding homes, education, run schemes to sponsor children and the elderly, amongst many other things. It has a “bottom up” approach which means the communities themselves decide what they need and who should receive help.
